Hi, I’m Blake D. Hempel

My passion for finance led me to work on Wall Street and as a consultant at many of America’s largest and most prestigious banks including JP Morgan Chase, Deutsche Bank, Wells Fargo, GMAC, and Northern Trust.

My background in technology and experience at a hedge fund administrator proved to be a great training ground to understanding the applied mathematical models of financial markets. It was during this time I discovered some stock market movements had very strong statistical evidence for not being random.

Only one question remained: could these sporadic statistical anomalies work in the real world? The markets are supposed to be efficient. It’s supposed to be
impossible to “beat the market”.

There was only one way to find out: I put my life savings on the line to test the research.

Driven by the results, I poured all of my resources into developing the enterprise level software system that ultimately formed the backbone of Hempel Wealth Management’s Quantitative Investing engine. I briefly pondered selling this software product to a hedge fund or launching a fund, but I ultimately craved having a more meaningful impact on the financial lives of everyday Americans.

Encouraged by friends and former colleagues to launch an investment advisory firm, I establish Hempel Wealth Management, a Registered Investment Advisor. I immediately fell in love with the ability to connect with clients and to play a more meaningful role in improving their lives.

The corporate mission is simple: help good people become wealthy so that they are better enabled to effect positive change in our community.

CFA Institute: Blake Hempel Passed Level 1Beyond running the business, I am pursuing a CFA charter. The Chartered Financial Analyst is regarded as the highest distinction in the Investment Management profession, especially in the areas of ethics, quantitative methods, economics, corporate finance, financial analysis and portfolio management.

Simultaneously, I am pursuing candidacy for CFP® certification at Northwestern University. The Certified Financial Planner credentials is considered by many to be the “gold standard” of financial planning designations. The CFP® certification focuses on insurance planning, income tax planning, investment planning, retirement planning, employee benefits, education planning and estate planning.

In my spare time, I enjoy boating on the beautiful Lake Michigan, competing in triathlons and spending time with my fiance, Dr. Samia Rageb, and our dog Lulu.
